At Cre8 Salon & Spa, sterilization and cleanliness are a priority to ensure the safety of our customers. Unfortunately, some other nail salons focus on money and profits, cutting corners on the sterilization process. One study even found that 75% of US nail salons did not follow their state’s guidelines for sterilization. That’s why it’s important for nail salon customers to fully understand not only the legal requirements for sterilization but also the best practices that go beyond the laws that ensure safety. Here are some questions you should ask at any nail salon before getting services.
Which disinfectant do they use?
Not all disinfectants are created equal. Some may be watered down or less effective, and unfortunately, some of the least effective are also less expensive. That’s why some nail salons use a cheaper brand when they can. The industry standard for exceptional cleanliness requires Barbicide®, an EPA-certified, hospital-grade disinfectant. However, Barbicide® is expensive, so some nail salons may not use it for all their reusable implements. We make the investment at Cre8 Salon & Spa without hesitation, because we know that the peace of mind for our technicians and our customers is priceless. The security of knowing that we have fully safeguarded our clients’ health is simply a must.
Do they use a medical-grade autoclave?
State law in Florida does require that all nail salons soak their reusable implements and Pedi tubs in Barbicide® for 10 minutes. However, the State of Florida Board of Barbering and Cosmetology does not require sterilization of reusable implements in a medical-grade autoclave, but this is a best practice for proper sterilization. At Cre8 Salon & Spa, we follow all protocol with Barbicide® sterilization and also sterilize our reusable implements in our medical-grade autoclave for 20 minutes before use. An autoclave is the only device that can guarantee complete sterilization, and it uses a high-pressure steam process to ensure that implements are fully cleaned and sterilized. At Cre8 Salon & Spa, non-reusable implements are discarded or given to the clients on which they were used at their request.
Are sterilization and cleanliness procedures documented?
The only way to ensure that all procedures for cleaning and sterilization are completed regularly is to have a strict regimen of documentation. At Cre8 Salon & Spa, we ensure that Pedi tubs are washed and sterilized with a 10-minute Barbicide® bath, and hat all reusable implements are disinfected in Barbicide® and in the medical-grade autoclave, and we document the time of each procedure. This ensures that all cleanliness and sterilization policies are followed before these tools are used for another client. Our team of professionals at Cre8 Salon & Spa also ensures that all floors, sinks, and surfaces are fully cleaned and sterilized for the safety of our customers.
Do they turn away clients who are sick?
Unfortunately, when profits are the priority, some nail salons will not turn away paying customers. At Cre8 Salon & Spa, we value our clients enough to insist that customers who are sick come back for their nail treatments on another day when they are feeling better. This policy is not only important for COVID-19. It is also crucial for preventing the spread of other illnesses and infections so that we can maintain a safe, sterile environment for our clients. At Cre8 Salon & Spa, your safety is our first priority, because we want you to love your nail care and feel safe and secure in our salon.
At Cre8 Salon & Spa, we can’t wait to welcome back our clients, and we’re ready to keep you safe and secure with our extensive cleanliness and sterilization policies, which include regular Barbicide® and medical-grade autoclave use.
